| We recorded cellphone monologues during walks around Vancouver and rides on the transit system, listening for speeches that seemed to be meant to be overheard. The rhythms and pitches of these spoken words controlled piano notes on the Disklavier-equipped grand piano at the Western Front. Our performance on April 28 combined these vocal-driven note sequences with piano notes that were manually triggered, vocal readings from eavesdropped text, and live sampling/transformation of vocal and piano sounds sent into a four-speaker audio space. |
