installation 2 Power consumption was reduced by using 2 5" black and white TVs for video, and small powered speakers for audio. While working with the TVs in our studio we noticed that when the volume was turned down an electrical hum was produced that was affected by the image on the screen. We decided to use this hum as the sound source for the installation. The video material was high contrast shadow images of walking motions, shot on a bright day on the boardwalk behind the residence where we were staying. The gestures were re-ordered using a program which moved a looping window of activity through the clips, creating a slowly shifting choreography.
