the new gallery....september 26 1999::::::the big breakfast show....september 21 1999
the inspiration for public domain was a news story about a person who had been painted silver as a punishment for trespassing...the kind of story that makes you think its been made up by someone in the newsroom.......the person had apparently asked to have the picture taken

part 1 happened on a tv breakfast show....a monitor was set up showing video shot from news coverage of a recent eclipse.....the story about the painted trespasser was read... with an upside down guitar, painted grey, in front of my face....while swivelling to block the camera's view of the 'real performance'
part 2 was included in a space for space event at the new gallery....the story was cut up and recorded on two cassette loops... audience members passed battery powered players from hand to hand.... the cut up phrases mixed and criss crossed in the room as tv snow was projected on a torn photocopy of the newspaper page
